The Basics of Moving House - Plans and Preparation

Moving is one of the most stressful experiences we can have in life. It could mean leaving behind familiar faces and places we have grown to love. But there are a few things you can do to make the moving day more manageable. In this article, we will share a few useful tips which you can follow to ease the hassles of relocation.
Timing is everything
When choosing a moving date, make sure it doesn't overlap with the last rent payment and your first mortgage payment. Dealing with financial issues is harder than the organizing a long distance move.
Pack non-essentials first
If you keep procrastinating, the moving day will arrive a lot faster than you expect. This can result to panic packing. Hence, pack as early as you possibly can, starting with the non-essentials. Leave work clothes, toiletries and cooking ware unpacked till the last day so your daily routine would still be normal.
Keep the kids busy
A good means to make your children look forward to the move is to let them help you prepare for it. Allow your children to clean and pack their own stuff. As soon as you reach your new home, encourage them to design their own bedrooms so they can easily get comfortable in their rooms.
Create an action plan
An action plan prepares you for the moving day. Figure out the time scale of the day. What time will are you expecting the movers to arrive? Will you have enough time to arrange the boxes in the garage? Knowing the time scale allows you to make the most out of your moving day.
